ARC Review: Ransom by Rachel Schurig

Title: Ransom
Author: Rachel Schurig
Series: Ransom #1
Genres: NA, Romance, Contemporary
Publication: April 28th 2014

Summary (Goodreads):
Daisy Harris has no reason to suspect that her day will be any different than usual. She’ll go to class, alone. She won’t speak or make eye contact. She’ll spend her entire day doing her best to go completely unnoticed. That’s what life is like for Daisy now—an endless cycle of loneliness and fear. A life lived hiding behind the walls she so faithfully maintains.

Then she sees it. A magazine, left behind in class. A simple picture—just his face. And it changes everything.

It’s been a year since she’s seen Daltrey Ransome. A year since he and his brothers left town to pursue their dreams of rock and roll superstardom. A year since he left Daisy behind—left her to watch as everything she knew crumbled around her. She’s been running from Daltrey ever since, desperate to keep her secret.

But she can’t run anymore. And now that Daltrey has found her—the girl he’s loved his entire life, the girl he’d give up everything for—he’s determined never to let her go again.

**The first book in a brand new series from USA Today bestselling author Rachel Schurig. This New Adult Contemporary Romance novel is a complete story with no cliffhanger.**
My Thoughts:

**An eARC was provided in exchange of an honest review**

This book was a very emotional read for me. It's one of those books that you have a very hard time putting down and no problem at all getting into.

Daisy and Daltrey have been best friends since they were little, until Daltryes leaves town to pursue his dreams and Daisy finds herself alone as everything she knows falls down around her when her small town suddenly turns against her out of jealousy. Now, a year later, she finds she can't keep running forever and has to face the people she cares most about and whom she hurt.

I really liked Daisy and I sympathized with her throughout the whole book. She lived lonely for a long time and forgot how to trust again and have friends. I found my heart aching for her. Being bullied isn't easy, and even though I understand that, I couldn't understand her reasoning for cutting Daltrey off. It was a bit too much since they were so close and she knew how much she meant to him. Daltrey worships the ground Daisy walks on and he would do anything to make her happy. I found myself tearing up over the things he did and said and thought pretty much all the time. The guy is swoon-worthy and yummy and I absolutely adored him! He is protective and prepared to throw away everything for his girl.

I loved his relationship with Daisy. I'm not huge for best-friends turned lovers thing, but this book had my heart hurting and my eyes tearing. The authors writing was great and it just showed the feelings Daisy and Daltrey had for each other and made it impossible not to fall for them both. From the first page and I found myself feeling for both characters and just getting them and their friendship. They were very close and always chose and protected each other over anybody else since they were little and their friendship grew with them until it turned to soul searing love.

This is a gripping story that will have you turning the pages and wanting more, and I would recommend it to anybody looking for a read that will have you laugh and cry and swoon.

Nowhere But Here - coverAbout NOWHERE BUT HERE:
An unforgettable new series from acclaimed author Katie McGarry about taking risks, opening your heart and ending up in a place you never imagined possible

Seventeen-year-old Emily likes her life the way it is: doting parents, good friends, good school in a safe neighborhood. Sure, she's curious about her biological father—the one who chose life in a motorcycle club, the Reign of Terror, over being a parent—but that doesn't mean she wants to be a part of his world. But when a reluctant visit turns to an extended summer vacation among relatives she never knew she had, one thing becomes clear: nothing is what it seems. Not the club, not her secret-keeping father and not Oz, a guy with suck-me-in blue eyes who can help her understand them both.

Oz wants one thing: to join the Reign of Terror. They're the good guys. They protect people. They're…family. And while Emily—the gorgeous and sheltered daughter of the club's most respected member—is in town, he's gonna prove it to her. So when her father asks him to keep her safe from a rival club with a score to settle, Oz knows it's his shot at his dream. What he doesn't count on is that Emily just might turn that dream upside down.

No one wants them to be together. But sometimes the right person is the one you least expect, and the road you fear the most is the one that leads you home.

Blog Tour: My Time in the Affair by Stylo Fantome (Review + Giveaway)

Hello, everyone! Today, I'm part of the blog tour for My Time in the Affair by Stylo Fantome, hosted by Good Choice Reading. You'll find the finale scheduele below to follow the tour for more fun!

Synopsis
~Mischa~
I made a conscious decision to cheat on my husband.
Now, before you judge me, hear my story. Hear how much I'm like you, how similar my thoughts are to your own. Yes, I'm a horrible person. Yes, I've done horrible things. Yes, I don't deserve forgiveness. Yes, bad things happened because of my actions.

But I'm willing to bet I've done things that maybe, just maybe, you have thought of doing.

Maybe, just maybe, you're not as innocent as you'd like to think.

Or maybe I'm not so guilty ...
WARNING: This book involves CHEATING. The word AFFAIR is in the title. The main character has an AFFAIR. In the synopsis (directly above), she states that she intentionally has an AFFAIR. If you don't like CHEATING, then you have been VERY WELL warned. Also, this book is primarily written in the third-person narrative.
My Thoughts:

This is not the first book by Stylo Fantome I've read. Her Kane trilogy is one of my all time favorite series for the fact that it is an unusual romance that is most certainly not a cliché. This book is another uncliché.

Mischa is a married women and like so many others, she's not satisfied and feels like her marriage is lacking do she decides to cheat. She plans it more than a year in advance, and on a work trip to Italy, she decides that it's time and then she meets Tal, a man different from what she's used to. He talks dirty to her, makes her feel like she's beautiful and sexy and wanted and he can't seem to get enough of her. Soon, her one nightstand turns into an affair.

I feel like first, I have to say that I absolutely cannot tolerate cheating. I hate it, both in real life and in books and I usually avoid stories that revolve around cheating. But like I mentioned before, I loved Stylos Kane trilogy and when I found out about this, even though I hesitated, I had to read it. I found the idea that a women chose to cheat, and that she didn't blame it on being drunk or that it was a mistake and it just kind of happened very intriguing. I wanted to know the whys and hows and everything else in between and what I found was something I absolutely loved.

I love when an author goes out of everyone's comfort zone and writes something that nobody else has written, something new and very unusual. My Time in the Affair is all that. While I was reading it and loving it, I felt guilty. I hate cheating and can't stand it, yet I loved Mischa and Tal and I wanted to see more of them together, which made me understand Mischa and not hate her like I expected to before I started the book. But no, I really loved her and even though what she did was wrong, and she did it fully aware of the consequences and that she was going to hurt people, there was something about her that I couldn't hate. Maybe it was the fact that she was fully concious and knew what she was doing and that she didn't blame it on anything but the fact that she wanted something her husband couldn't give her. Tal on the other hand, there is really no question about why I would love him. He is dirty-talking, he is funny, and he goes after what he wants no matter what. You have to respect a man who isn't afraid to get what he wants and Tal most certainly did that. He was also sweet and the way he felt about Mischa made me swoon and tear up and hold my hand to my chest while I oh-ed and ah-ed at everything he did.

This book is emotional, and it deals with something that a lot of people go through but this time, we get to see the whole thing in the eyes of the cheater instead of the one being cheated on. I absolutely loved this book, and I couldn't put it down. It engrossed me from the first page and I become entrapped in Mischas world and emotions and I didn't want to stop reading. I know for a fact that I'll be rereading this book soon because I can't get enough of it.

About the Author
Crazy woman living in an undisclosed location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since ..., forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.
I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me.
Yeah. I think that about sums me up.
