Friday Night Date with Alex from Reason and Romance

Hi, guys and welcome to a new blog feature called Friday Night Date! This feature will be hosted every other Friday, here on In My Secret -Book- World were I will be interviewing one of our most loved book boyfriends.

This week, my date is Alex from Reason and Romance by Jenn Young. He's one of those guys you just love to hate, but really can't because he does these little things that make you melt. He's honest and blunt, which I just loved, and he had no problem in telling it like it is. Check out the full date below and you'll fall in love with him just like I did!

Me: Hello, Alex! Welcome to In My Secret -Book- World! I'm so happy you agreed to go on this date with me, there is so much I want to ask you about! There are many things about you that I just love, but what do you love about yourself?

Alex: I’m the first to admit I’ve got a healthy ego, so, yeah, I love a lot of things about myself, but I’m not scared to approach a girl, even if she’s the hottest girl around.

Me: You and Adrian were almost never on the same page, and you had many fights and misunderstandings, so if you went back in time, what is one thing you regret doing?

Alex: Man, I don’t know why Adrian and I never got together … I’ve gone over it in my mind many times, and I’m pretty sure I did something wrong, but I can’t figure out what. Maybe I should have told her straight up that I wanted her. Or maybe … I don’t know, man.

Me: What do you think a women's day is like? Would you ever want to be a female for one day?

Alex: I think they spend the day just being themselves. As in, they’re hot and they’re perfect and they screw a guy’s mind. I like who I am, but if I could read a girl’s mind, maybe that’s worth being a girl for one day.

Me: What's a perfect day in the life of Alex Montgomery like?

Alex: I have a rep for banging girls left and right, but if you really know me, that’s not exactly what I do. I’m actually the happiest when I’m hanging out with my best friends and when I have the girl that I really want.

Me: Considering how hot you are, which you already knew, I can only imagine what you looked like as a baby, but what were you like? Cute and adorable and following orders, which I seriously doubt, or a bad boy even then?

Alex: Well … to hear my mom say it, I was a devil, even then. But to hear my dad say it, I was great. I’ll let you decide what I was, but I’ll tell you what I am now. I’m a great guy to have on your side, and a bad enemy.

Me: They say food is the way to a mans heart, so if decided to win you over with my culinary skills, what should I make you?

Alex: You can’t go wrong with a perfect burger and fries.

Me: What's your guilty pleasure?

Alex: I don’t have guilty pleasures because what’s so guilty about pleasures? Isn’t life all about being happy and not giving a crap about it?

Me: And since we're confessing, or you are, what is the worst thing somebody walked in on you doing?

Alex: Well … there might have been that time when a girl and I were getting a little “close” in school, if you know what I mean. And her father was a teacher, so he may or may not have caught us in the act.

Me: This is strictly between the two of us and I totally won't share- that's a lie - if you could commit a crime and get away with it, what would it be?

Alex: I’d probably mind-wipe my parents and make them remember why they used to be in love, so they could get married again. But that’s just a daydream, and I don’t get too caught up in the “what-ifs.”

Me: If you could get naughty with any celebrity, who would it be?

Alex: Nah, man. I’m not really down with celebrities. I just figure they’re pretty hyped up shits, and I don’t need that in my life. Okay, maybe I have a bit of a thing for Victoria’s Secret models…

Me: What could this celebrity do to turn you on, and what should she/he avoid doing?

Alex: I’m a guy. There isn’t a lot you can do to turn me off, but if you backstab me or my friends or my family, that’s it. Game over.

Me: And this is the end of the getting to know each other part! But before we move on to the quickies, this is your last chance to ask me anything, so go for it!

About Reason and Romance:
Being stuck in the godforsaken desert is Adrian Blake’s worst nightmare come true. Senior year is all about making fun memories. It’s not about starting over at a new school and navigating a new Brady Bunch family. It’s really not about living with a sexy, arrogant would-be stepbrother who knows how to push her buttons.

Alex Montgomery is the very definition of a player. The only thing he commits to is a one night stand. He’s exactly the kind of guy she hates. When she sleeps with him, it’s the biggest mistake of her life. Now she can’t stop thinking about him. Not at school. Not at home.

Sometimes the best mistakes are the ones that you make over and over again…

ARC Review: Wicked Fall by Sawyer Bennett

Title: Wicked Fall
Author: Sawyer Bennett
Series: The Wicked Horse #1
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Publication: July 28th 2015 by Big Dog Books
Summary (Goodreads):
Never in your wildest dreams could you begin to imagine all the filthy and depraved things that go on inside The Wicked Horse. Step inside and Woolf Jennings will make every one of your dirty fantasies come true.

He’s covered in a facade of deception. An enticing blend of multi-millionaire and hot-as-hell Wyoming rancher, those that think they know Woolf Jennings admire his abilities to preside as CEO of his family’s cattle and oil empire. But only a privileged few truly understand what fuels the glitter of depravity in those gorgeous blue eyes. Only a few know he’s opened up a sinfully erotic and private sex club named The Wicked Horse right at the base of the beautiful Teton Mountain range.

Sweet Callie Hayes has returned home to Wyoming and is looking forward to starting her life over again. After a night of impetuosity, she’s managed to put herself right in Woolf’s line of sight… the man who she foolishly offered up her virginity to years ago and was flatly turned down.

Now Woolf is seeing that Callie is all grown up and has a kinky side to her that leaves him as confused as it does turned on. Worse yet, both Callie’s dirty desires and sweet heart are getting under his skin, and making Woolf question everything he’s ever believed about himself.
My Thoughts:

**An eARC was provided by publisher in exchange of an honest review**

I have really mixed feelings about this book. Words like filthy and depraved jumped at me when I read the blurb for Wicked Fall, and when I went into it, I expected it to be one of those dirty reads that would make me blush or gasp in shock. It did not.

Woolf isn't happy with being a CEO of his family's cattle and oil company, it isn't his passion. What he likes most is the secret sex club he opened with his best friends, where pretty much everything is allowed. When Callie, a girl he turned down eleven years ago comes back to town, he wants her, but she is sweet and innocent and he's far from it.

I'm one of those people who get turned on by monogamy, and I don't usually like books with threesomes, but when I saw this book, I thought, this sounds like a really hot book and I've yet to read a book by Sawyer Bennett, even though I have almost all of her books on my TBR-list. I thought, I'd give both threesomes and the author a chance with this book. Wicked Fall didn't turn out to be what I expected it to be.

We saw very little of what goes on in the sex club and what Woolf and his best friends, Bridger do, and the depravity and dirty things they were into. There was only one scene that breached on being dirty and filthy, but it was so brief that it just hit my I-don't-like-polygamy button instead of doing the opposite. There was a lot of telling when it came to the whole dirty sex club and Woolf and Bridgers sex adventure instead of showing. Callie came into the picture from the start and as soon as Woolf saw her again, he didn't crave his secret life as much as he did and he only wanted to be with her. Callie used to be shy and nice and would never dare step foot into a sex club, but she's tired of being boring and wants to try out new things and be a new Callie. When she discovers Woolf's secret club, she wants in, but Woolf is hesitant and thinks it would be too much for her. He gave me whiplashes with his change in personality. One second he wanted Callie and a life outside of the club. A few seconds later, he wanted the club and was sure he couldn't live a vanilla life. I would've liked him so much more if he picked a side and stuck with it. Instead, I felt like Bridger was making all the decisions for him and that he couldn't decide on anything without his best friends opinion.

I liked Callie more than him. She knew she wanted Woolf, had since she was a teenager, and when she discovers his club, she's intrigued because it just so happens she wants a change from her boring life. She went for what she wanted and had the courage to try out new things, things that would have made her cover her eyes and ears a few months ago.

While I wasn't a huge fan of Woolf, I liked his relationship with Callie. Because Woolf and Callie's brother were best friends, they grew up together and knew pretty much everything about the other. They were comfortable together and had so much sexual tension and attraction from years apart to make up for. Most of the sex in Wicked Fall was vanilla, but I can't say that it wasn't hot or steamy. Sawyer Bennett's writing is captivating and it's what kept me glued to the screen of my iPad until I finished this book in one sitting.

Wicked Fall may not have been what I expected it to be, but it was still a book I enjoyed. The writing is amazing and the attractions between the MCs is hot. Will I read another book by this author? Definitely. Will I continue reading this series? Maybe. The epilogue from the next book in The Wicked Horse series was hot and promising and I might give it another try.

My Thoughts:

I really like the first book in this series, and even though I predicted what was going to happen at the end, I was still left with many questions and no answers when Dance For Me ended in a big cliffhanger. When I woke up around a month ago and found an ARC of Lie to You waiting on my Kindle app, I couldn't resist taking a peak at the book and reading just enough to know what happened next. I told myself I would read just the first chapter. And then I said, ok, let's read chapter two. And when I finished chapter two, I thought, whats one more chapter? And so I continued until I finished the book in one day.

Lie to You picks up a few days after the end of Dance For Me, and Joe is confused and humiliated and has no idea what to do or whats going on, until Ransom tells her to go to dinner with him and visit his family and that she would get to choose and have all the answers she wants. Only, things don't work like that, not with Rebel in the picture.  That man doesn't take orders from anyone, and will not let anything stand between him and what he considers his. While the first book had mostly Ransom, this book was all about Rebel, and I loved that fact. From the first glimpse of him from the first book, and I knew which team I rooted for. I don't like good guys. I like mean alpha-males. I somewhat liked Ransom in the first book, and at one point, I thought he should be the one to end up with Joe, but in this book, I hated him. To say that Rebel stole the show for me would be an understatement. There where moments at the start of Lie to You when I didn't like him and questioned his motives, but as the book went on, I fell completely in love with him, and completely out of love with Joe. I was a fan of hers in Dance For Me, but in this book, I wanted to shake her so hard. She made so many wrong choices, and even though I understood that anybody in her position would be confused and wouldn't know what to do, I didn't agree with many of the things she did. She accused Rebel of doing the very wrong thing she did, and then she just kept getting so angry over things that should've been obvious to her. She let herself be manipulated many times and it drove me crazy.

Nonetheless, I actually enjoyed her relationship with Rebel. They really had no relationship in the beginning, but in this book, we get to see them deal with and try to fit in in the others life. Their chemistry was still there, and whenever they were together, things just kept heating up, but watching them get to know each other and interact in normal day life was something great and I loved the progress they made.

Lie to You is such a compelling read. I had a hard time setting this book down. It's an amazing steamy book that will have you at the edge of your seat, completely captivated by these characters lives.

Amazon US | Amazon UK

My Thoughts:

I really liked this book! It's a combination of an emotional read and a steamy, fun one. It was easy to get into and though, some parts of the past of the MCs were kept hidden and only hinted at until the second half of the book, I had no problem with connecting with the book, and it only kept me guessing and coming back for more.

Summer and Carrie Ann dated for two years in college and they lived a dream, until Summer was injured and lost his football career and their lives took a turn for the bad and they parted ways with heavy hearts and much pain. Now, ten years later, Summer still hasn't given up the chance to win Carrie Ann back, even though she's always rejected him whenever he tried. When the two of them get stuck in a Montana cabin in a bad storm, their attraction is as strong as ever and its impossible for Carrie Ann to keep denying what both her heart and body demand. With nowhere to go, the two have to face what they'd been running from for such a long time.

I wasn't a huge fan of Carrie Ann. She annoyed me a lot and had me shaking my head at her in frustration pretty much throughout the whole book. She was keeping secrets from Summer and yet she blamed him for pretty much everything. It made me really angry. She knew what she wanted and yet she just kept stringing Summer along and I disliked her for it. Summer was another story. I really liked the man. He knew what he wanted and he went after it. He didn't give up, and he fought for what he wanted. He was also sweet, sexy and had a mouth that can make anyone and everyone blush. I loved him and his protective streak that just made me swoon.

Even though I didn't like Carrie Ann, and was annoyed by her pretty the whole time, I loved her relationship with Summer. I'm a sucker for second-chance romances and Summer and Carrie Ann had a big load of attraction and sexual chemistry that just kept me reading. It was sexy and heart-breaking at the same time, so for those looking for something a little stronger than a simple easy and fun read for the summer, this book is for you.
